Health - After Pregnancy

After you give birth it is common for women to still hold some excess weight which was gained during the pregnancy. Remember though, it can take a few months for your body to return to normal so don’t expect things to change overnight.

If you have chosen to breastfeed your baby or express milk, then you may find your weight is fluctuating. Some women will gain weight during this time due to an added intake of food, less time and energy to exercise, and an interrupted sleep pattern. Don’t be too hard on yourself if this does occur as taking care of a newborn baby is tough work and it will take your body a bit of time to adjust.

Developing a new routine will help overcome these hurdles and will help you get your weight back on track. Eat regular healthy meals, add in some light cardio exercise when you’re ready and use your baby’s sleep time to catch up on some rest yourself, as you need to take care of yourself just as much as baby.
